Capstone – level 1 Stockholm

The Introductory Level 1 covers a full day of wine curriculum, beginning with major eras in the history of California wine. As a Level 1 candidate, you will learn how California’s geography, the Pacific Ocean and mountain ranges affect viticulture and wine styles. You will also acquire fundamental knowledge of grape-growing practices and the specifics of viticulture compared to other agriculture, including the ability to identify and describe the important grape varieties grown in California.

A full day classroom course and 2 hours guided tasting of 8 wines. We offer coffee during the day and lunch is arranged on your own.

  • Receive an introduction to the American Viticultural Area (AVA) system, including the world-famous AVAs of Napa Valley, Sonoma County and Santa Barbara County.
  • Explore California’s iconic wineries, such as Ridge Vineyards, Frog’s Leap Winery and Robert Mondavi Winery.
  • Learn about the key statistics for California wine in global production, consumption and exports.

THIS IS HOW THE COURSE GOES

Capstone California Wine Certification Program level 1 consist of several chapters covering history, lore, geography, climate, soils, grapes, viticulture, vinification, aging and maturation, wine laws, official classifications, producers, vintages, and the business of wine. 

Level 1 is a full day classroom course that covers theory, tasting and exam. The exam will be done during the end of the day and consist of multiple choice questions.
