WSET Level 2?

This is a course intended for anyone who already have some knowledge about the world of spirits either already working in the industry or being an enthusiast. This qualification is intended for beginners wishing to learn about a wider range of spirits or those who wish to build on their knowledge gained during the WSET Level 1 in Spirits.

How to taste and describe wine using the WSET Level 2 Systematic 
Approach to Tasting Spirits®(SAT)

The techniques used during the four stages of spirits production

How these techniques determine the style of a spirit

How a balanced cocktail is made and examples in four notable cocktail families
(the spirit-forward, the short sour, the highball and the long sour)

How local production traditions & local laws create different style of spirits
in the following categories:

  • fruit spirits
  • whisky/whiskey
  • sugar cane spirits
  • Tequila and Mezcal
  • vodka
  • flavoured spirits (spiced rum, flavoured vodka, gin, aniseed spirits, bitter spirits/amaro, cocktail bitters, liqueurs)

How it works

Course format:

  • Number of days: 3 days
  • Recurrency: 3 consecutive days
  • Time: 09.00 to 16.00
  • Home study: minimum 20 hours


Examination:

  • When: Last day of the course
  • Duration: 1h
  • Format: 50 multiple-choice questions (in person)
  • A mark of 55% minimum is required to pass.

Study time

Before the start of the course, you, as a student, must be well prepared for the course.
Therefore, it’s important that you read the entire course material at least once and that you feel familiar with the content. We strongly advise you to study the course material before the start of the course.

WSET level 2 to require between 11 – 20 hours of self-study. 
By preparing for the education, you get the best conditions for passing the examination that is done during the last day of the course.
 
The total study time for WSET level 2 is 36 hours
  • 16 hours (3 course days) in classroom with certified WSET educator
  • 11 – 20 hours of self-study
  • 1 hour examination
