What is

WSET 4 Diploma?

WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines is WSET’s last & expert-level qualification. It is meant for those seeking to master the complexities of the wine industry. This course is ideal for individuals aiming to advance their careers in wine, such as sommeliers, educators, or industry professionals. Through in-depth study of viticulture, vinification, and global wine markets, students develop an understanding of wine production and business. Upon completion, graduates earn the highly respected WSET Level 4 Diploma, opening doors to senior roles and recognition as a wine authority. The course is conducted in English.

Who should attend

WSET 4 Diploma?

The final examination of WSET called WSET 4 Diploma Award in wines, is meant for any student who have been awarded the WSET Level 3, and wish to take their wine journey to the next level. This course is strongly recommended by the Master of Wine program (MW) for those who wish to start studying their program.

How it works

The Wine Hub works in partnership together with Austrian Wine Academy aka. Weinakademie Österreich. 

Europe's leading wine training institution

The Wine Academy Austria has established itself as a leading wine training institution in Europe. With over 1,000 seminars and more than 20,000 participants annually, the Weinakademie Österreich has been the largest European wine school for years. The very first class of wine academics graduated in 1994. Today there are more than 850 wine academics from 41 countries worldwide, mainly from Europe, but also from Argentina, China, Iran, Canada, New Zealand and the USA. 
These often hold key positions in the wine industry. 

This course is given abroad during a period of 2 years, meaning, as a student, you need commitment in time and resources as there might be extra costs to travel to the various location throughout the 2 years. Students travel several time during the 2 years, every stay is called a “block”.

A block is usually several days with various classes, tastings and winery visits where students may dive into several subjects i.e. “viticulture & winemaking”, “Sparkling wines”, etc.

  • Number of “blocks” in the various countries : 6 blocks

  • Number of days on site in each block : 2 – 5 days

  • Locations of the blocks :
    • Geisenheim (Geisenheim University) – Germany
    • Rust (Austrian Wine Academy) – Austria
    • Bressanone/Brixen (Kloster Neustift) – Germany

International

  • Number of “blocks” in the various countries : 3 blocks
  • Number of days on site in each block : 7-10 days
  • Locations of the blocks :
    • Rust (Austrian Wine Academy)
    • Rust (Austrian Wine Academy) and Vienna (Palais Coburg) 
    • Florence

Central Europe

  • Number of “blocks” in the various countries : 5 blocks
  • Number of days on site in each block : 3-8 days
