About the course
The WSET Level 3 Award in Wines is designed for those who want to move beyond general wine knowledge and gain a detailed understanding of viticulture, winemaking and wine evaluation.
Throughout the course, theory and tasting are closely integrated. You will learn how production choices, climate and location interact to shape wine style and quality – and how to assess wines using a structured, professional framework. Upon successful completion, you will be awarded the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines certification. The course is taught entirely in English.
Who should attend WSET Level 3?
WSET Level 3 is ideal for experienced wine enthusiasts seeking advanced knowledge, professionals working with wine in hospitality, retail or import, aspiring sommeliers and educators, and anyone with WSET Level 2 or equivalent knowledge.
The course is demanding and rewarding, and best suited to those who are motivated, structured and ready to commit time to independent study.

Course format:
- Number of days: 5 days
- Recurrency: 3 + 2 consecutive days
- Time: 09.00 to 16.30
- Home study: minimum 50 hours
Examination:
- When: Last day of the course
- Duration: 2h30
- Format:
- Tasting: 30 min – 2 wines
- Theory: 2 hours – 50 multiple choice questions and short written answer questions

- A mark of 55% minimum on both part of the exam is required to pass.

Preparation and study commitment
WSET Level 3 requires thorough preparation. Before the course starts, you are expected to read the full course material and familiarise yourself with the content.
Estimated total study time:
- 35 hours classroom teaching
- 50 hours self-study
- 2.5 hours examination
Total: approximately 80 hours
Good preparation significantly increases your chances of success in the final examination.
